Terms of Service

Last updated [DATE]

Before this goes live: every highlighted value below is a business detail only you can supply — legal entity name, registered address, CIN, support address and the courts you want named. Have a lawyer read the finished version. This is a working draft written to describe what the software actually does, not legal advice.

These terms govern your use of Blockshot (the "Service"), operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you are using the Service for an employer or client, you confirm you may accept these terms on their behalf.

1. What the Service does

Blockshot is a browser-based previsualization tool. You describe a scene in plain language and the Service lays out placeholder shapes, motion and camera moves that you can then edit by hand and export as a reference clip. Rendering and export happen in your own browser; the exported file is produced on your device.

The generation features send your description, and where relevant the current scene, to a third-party AI model provider. Everything else — blocking, cameras, motion, terrain, timing and export — runs without any model call.

2. Accounts

  • An account is required to use the Service. Sign-in is handled by Amazon Cognito; we never see or store your password.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your email secure.
  • One person, one account. Creating multiple accounts to collect the free credits again is a breach of these terms, and we may suspend accounts and withdraw unspent free credits where we detect it.
  • You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live. The Service is not directed at children.

3. Free credits on sign-up

A new account receives a fixed number of free scene generations, at no cost and with no payment details required. They do not expire on a date; they last until they are spent. When they run out:

  • The generation features stop until you buy credits.
  • Everything else keeps working, and your projects, scenes and shot lists remain yours and remain editable.

Free and promotional credits are granted per person, not per account. Where we detect one person collecting them across several accounts, we may withhold them and suspend the accounts involved.

4. Credits and payment

  • Credits are a prepaid unit of account used to meter AI generation. They are not money, not a deposit, and carry no cash value.
  • Each action shows its price in credits before you spend it. We hold an estimate when a request starts and settle it against actual usage when it completes, returning the difference.
  • A generation that fails is refunded to your balance in full, automatically.
  • Credits are tied to your account. They cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for cash.
  • Purchases are processed by Razorpay. We do not receive or store your card, UPI or bank details.
  • Prices are in [CURRENCY]. We are not registered for GST, so no GST is charged and no tax invoice is issued; you will receive a payment receipt. [If you register for GST later — the threshold catches up with most services that grow — this line has to change, along with your invoices and your Razorpay settings.] We may change prices for future purchases; credits you have already bought are unaffected.
  • Refunds are covered by our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

5. Your content

Your prompts, scenes, shot lists and exported clips are yours. You keep all rights in them. You grant us only the licence we need to run the Service: to store your scene documents, to transmit your prompt and scene to the AI provider that answers it, and to display them back to you.

We do not use your content to train models. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone other than the processors listed in our Privacy Policy.

6. AI output

Generated layouts are a starting point, not a finished result. Models make mistakes: scale can be wrong, blocking can be nonsensical, and two identical prompts can produce different scenes. You are responsible for reviewing what you use. We make no warranty that generated output is accurate, suitable for any purpose, or free of similarity to other work.

7. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • use the Service to produce content that is unlawful where you are, that sexualises minors, or that is designed to harass or defame a real person;
  • attempt to extract, resell or proxy the underlying model access, or use the Service as a general-purpose AI API;
  • automate requests beyond normal interactive use, or work around the rate limits, credit system or any other control;
  • probe, scan or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure;
  • create multiple accounts to collect the free credits or a coupon grant more than once.

We may suspend an account that breaches this section. Where we do, we will say why, and you can ask us to review it at [SUPPORT EMAIL].

8. Availability

We aim to keep the Service running but do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may take it down for maintenance, and we may pause the generation features entirely — for example if a provider fails or costs behave unexpectedly. Where generation is paused, the rest of the studio continues to work and your credits are not consumed.

9. Ending your use

  • You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account.
  • We may end your access if you breach these terms, or with reasonable notice if we discontinue the Service.
  • If we discontinue the Service, we will give you a reasonable period to export your work and will refund unused purchased credits.
  • Unused purchased credits are refundable only as described in the Refund Policy; free and coupon credits are not refundable in any circumstance.

10. Liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost production time, or lost or corrupted work. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — e.g. India], and the courts at [CITY] have exclusive jurisdiction.
